Crotched Mountain Adaptive Ride and Ski
We are proud to introduce the Crotched Mountain Adaptive Ride & Ski program– a.k.a. CMARS for the 2007-2008 season! The mission of CMARS is to make skiing and riding available to anyone of any ability! We are committed to assisting our patrons in accessing the program that will help them meet their individual goals. We provide a wide range of lesson packages and rates to meet the needs of any individual. Please see our Student Rate Sheet for full details. Lessons are taught by trained and qualified volunteer instructors. All lessons are on a reservation-only basis via phone or email. So be sure to plan ahead! CMARS is an Affiliate Member of AbilityPLUS; a chapter of Disabled Sports USA and a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that runs year round sports and recreation programs for people with disabilities and their families. Our facility is fully accessible (including automatic doors, elevator access to our 2nd floor dining area and plenty of accessible parking in front of the lodge) Crotched's Ski patrol and lift attendants are all trained to support patrons using adaptive equipment. **CMARS offers a range of opportunities to meet your needs** Lessons: We offer private adaptive lessons, semi-private adaptive lessons (2-3 students), as well as support during a CM Snowsports group lesson (this applies to all programs- see Snowsports Learning Center for details) Allies Program: If you are not looking for a lesson but still need some support to get out there and have fun on the slopes, you may be eligible for our Allies Program. Support provided by Allies may include: loading onto/unloading from the chairlift, getting up after a fall, tethering stand-up skier/rider, blind guiding, and trail safety. *Does not include instruction. Telephone #: (603)588-3668 ext. 229 Email Address: adaptive@crotchedmountain.com Mailing Address: CMARS - Crotched Mountain Adaptive Ride & Ski 615 Francestown Rd., Route 47 Bennington, NH 03442 **Volunteer Opportunities available** Lead Instructor (Alpine & Snowboard): Provides instruction and/or assistance for all students who have physical, developmental, sensory, or emotional disabilities. This involves providing a safe, fun and positive learning environment for the duration of the lesson. Assistant Instructor (Alpine & snowboard): Assist Lead Instructor during all aspects of lesson. This may include; student assessment, lesson planning, equipment fitting, on-snow instruction & support, evaluation. Office Assistant: Assists with a variety of office related tasks, including but not limited to answering the phone, working at the reception desk, copying, filing and data entry. Equipment Manager: Assists with the preparation of equipment for the day, moves the equipment for the student, maintains the equipment at the top quality standards. On-snow Allies: Provides support for a patron who experiences a disability which prevents them from skiing/riding independently. Allies may assist with any/all of the following: loading onto/unloading from the chairlift, getting up after a fall, tethering stand-up skier/rider, blind guiding, and trail safety. *Does not include instruction Junior Volunteers (ages 10-14): Assist Instructors during all aspects of lesson. Fundraising: Assist with the development and sustainability of CMARS; a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, through sharing of creative fundraising ideas and supporting special events.
